Bobs Cottage

Nestled in one of Exmoor's most iconic seaside hamlets, Bobs Cottage is a Grade II listed thatched cottage full of character and charm. Located on the beach and moments from Porlock Weir's harbour, it sleeps five guests in three comfortable bedrooms, offers off-road parking for one car and is dog friendly. The perfect base for exploring Exmoor and the Somerset coast.

Tucked away on the water’s edge in the charming harbour village of Porlock Weir, Bobs Cottage, enjoys an enviable coastal setting and plenty of character. Dating back to the 17th century, this Grade II listed thatched, mid terrace cottage combines centuries of character with thoughtful modern comforts, creating a wonderfully relaxing coastal retreat.

From the moment you arrive, the cottage feels steeped in history. Original timber beams, thick stone walls and traditional cottage features sit alongside carefully chosen furnishings and contemporary touches, giving the property a warm and welcoming atmosphere throughout.

Sleeping up to five guests, the accommodation is arranged across three floors. The top-floor master suite enjoys a king-size bed and private en-suite shower room, while the first floor offers a twin bedroom, a single bedroom and a family bathroom complete with both bath and separate shower.

The heart of the cottage is the cosy sitting room, where guests can unwind after a day exploring the coast. Large rear windows frame beautiful views across the pebble beach and bay beyond, reminding you just how close you are to the sea. The adjoining kitchen and dining area provides a sociable space for family meals, morning coffees and planning the day’s adventures.

Outside, there are seating areas to both the front and rear of the property. Step out from the rear garden directly onto the famous pebble ridge and South West Coast Path, where spectacular walks begin from your doorstep.

PROPERTY QUIRKS -

The large rear window in the sitting room enjoys wonderful beach views and provides the direct access to the back garden. This quirky, well-trodden route is one of the cottage’s enduring charms. For those of lesser mobility access to the rear is via the car park or there is a front patio with table and chairs.

As with many historic cottages, some features reflect the age and character of the building. The staircase is narrow and steep in places, and there is reduced headroom in parts of the top-floor bedroom due to the sloping ceilings. A stair gate is provided for dogs and younger guests.
